Treadmill 1 – The Branx Cardio Pro Touchscreen

This is one of THE best entry to mid level treadmills on the market. Here are the pros:

Pros:

  • Takes a max weight of 130kg
  • Has an incline option (0-15 levels)
  • 12 programs
  • Has a very high spec smart shock absorption system
  • Free twister and made to measure treadmill mat included
  • Goes up to a max speed of 17 km/h
  • Foldable
  • Include one touch speed and hand rail adjustments and body fat readout feature
  • Includes 2 year parts and labour warranty, and 5 years on frame and motor.

This is a great treadmill, and you definitely get your value for money with it. The fact that you get a great warranty with it, makes a big difference. It gives you that piece of mind, should anything go wrong.

Something else that is very underrated is the shock absorption system. This is the first thing I look for on any treadmill. There are 2 reasons you should value this so highly, and they are your knees.

Price wise, the Branx is an absolute bargain, as you also get a free treadmill mat included.

The Branx comes with hand rail sensors. Again, I believe that this feature is slightly underrated, due to its convenience. You can of course use a heart rate monitor but at times, you would rather not have to wear the heart rate strap. That’s why it is such a wonderful feature.

My Rating: I would definitely recommend this treadmill. there is nothing negative to point out about this Branx beauty. You will no doubt be pleased about the features that come with it. Your treadmill experience will be a great one. The Branx Cardio Pro gets a thumbs up!

Treadmill 2 – Fit4home F4H JK02 Olympic

This is a great little treadmill. One of the best things about it, is the price!

Pros:

  • The price
  • Has a generous belt size, that is wider than other treadmills in this price range
  • You can set goals and targets based on your fitness level
  • Great entry level machine, for those that want to build up from walking to a fast jog
  • Foldable
  • Drink holders included
  • Very light and easy to move.

Cons:

  • You only get a one year warranty, which is standard for a treadmill of this price and spec. However, a longer warranty would make it more appealing
  • Speed only goes up to 9.9 km/h
  • Incline is set so you can not change it
  • No shock absorption.

Overall, this is a lovely piece of kit for any entry level runner. If your goal is to build up speed slowly then you can’t really go wrong with this treadmill. However, if you are an experienced runner looking for a home treadmill that allows you to sprint, then you will have to look at another option.

The JK02 is a no frills, does what it says on the tin, piece of equipment. It will definitely help you to build up your speed. However, you may have to re-invest later on, as you could easily outgrow this.

My Rating: A good treadmill for the price but very much entry level.

Treadmill 3 – City Sports Electronic Walking Machine

During my research, I came across this marvel. At first glance, I thought “where is the monitor and the handles?”. However, as I delved deeper, I began to fall for this treadmill.

So, what has this treadmill got to offer you:

Pros:

  • Bluetooth built in speakers
  • Ultra thin
  • Shock absorption
  • Easy to move
  • Comes with a remote
  • Wear resistant

Cons:

  • No handle bars
  • Speed only goes up to 6 km/h
  • No preset programs

Let’s be upfront about this machine. It is a walking machine. You could definitely get up to a power walk, which is a calorie burner but for those of you that want to run, you will have to go with one of the other options.

However, don’t let this put you off, as it is a fantastic bit of kit, and ideal for home use. It’s shock absorption is great for the knees. I know it only goes up to 6 km/h but you will have to keep yourself steady, as there are no handle bars. This will engage the core more, which in turn will make you work harder.

My Rating: A new innovation, which definitely has a place in the market. Great for power walking.

Treadmill 4 – JLLT350

This is the treadmill that has it all:

Pros:

  • Has 20 different programs
  • Has a special 16 point shock absorption cushion system
  • Has 20 incline levels
  • Bluetooth enabled
  • 5 year motor warranty, 2 years parts and labour and lifetime frame warranty
  • Drinks holder
  • Speed goes up to 18 km/h
  • Foldable

I can’t really fault this machine, as it has everything you need and want in a treadmill. It is aesthetically pleasing and has an amazing warranty. The shock absorption system is especially designed to ensure that your joints are well looked after. The speed range caters for beginner and advanced users. It is bluetooth enabled, or you have the option to plug your iPhone, etc into the machine.

You would think that a machine like this would break the bank, but it is very reasonably priced.

My Rating: My research led me to find this outstanding machine. It has everything you need in a treadmill!

Treadmill 5 – DuraB Electric Treadmill

This is definitely a treadmill that will turn your head.

Pros:

  • Has 12 different programs and 3 countdown modes
  • Has a special 4 layer shock absorption and anti-slip belt
  • AUX connectivity
  • Heart rate program
  • Drinks and iPad holder
  • Speed goes up to 12 km/h
  • Foldable
  • Max weight 110kg

At first glance, this seems like an entry level machine. However, when you look deeper and see what it offers, it is obviously not. This machine is for beginners and experienced runners alike. It goes up to an impressive 12 km/h, which is easily fast enough for a sprint.

The amount you have to pay is very reasonable, considering what you will be getting in return.

My Rating: Definitely top 2. It offers everything you need within a treadmill for an excellent price.

Which One is Right for You?

Now you have the facts, it is up to you to decided which one suits your needs. They are all fantastic machines, and offer something in their own right. However, my top 2 home treadmills would have to be treadmill’s 4 and 5, the JLLT350 and DuraB. They offer so much, for a reasonable prices.

Once you have either of these treadmills, you will be set. Either one should last you a very long time (as long as you maintain it).

At the end of the day it is your choice, and as I said above, whichever one you choose will be the right one for you.

Please be sure to look after your product. The more care and attention you give it, the longer it will last. In the majority of cases, all you will have to do is lubricate your running deck once (or twice) a year. This is so the belt doesn’t wear. However, most models come with their own maintenance schedule.

I hope I have shed some light on the home treadmill subject, and that I have made it easier for you to make the choice. If you have any questions and/or feedback, please leave a comment below. As always, it has been a pleasure having you here. Happy running/walking!

  1. Nice review thanks, I’ve never seen the City Sports one in particular and I must say I like it because I’ve been doing mostly a long walk every day at the moment and this one is perfect for walking and it not that imposing, which is something I really like about it too, the ones with arms (which I’m sure essential if you are running?) take up a lot more space I would say. And the price is not bad either!

    • Yes, the City Sport’s model is unique and very attractive. If it had a higher max speed, it would have to include a frame for safety. Thank you for the comment. Have a great day.

  2. Thank you for explaining the things I should be considering in the purchase of a treadmill.  I have wondered if I would use one enough to warrant the investment.  This has lead me to the ads for used equipment.  Often there is a description of the equipment, but as I didn’t know what was important, was not sure what to look for.  The shock absorber is one thing I had not thought about.  I now understand the value of a new one to be sure and get the features that are important to me.

Is any maintenance required with these treadmills?  Is there any research about the difference in the amount of time users spend on the treadmill if it is always ready, or the folding one gets used more?  The one you talked about that did not have a handle, I have not seen one without a handle, I thought one would be necessary for balance. Of course, maybe there are people more nimble than me.  Thank you for the information about what to look for and how treadmills compare. Sami

    • Hey Sami. The maintenance required will be the lubrication of the belt. This depends on how much you use the treadmill. All models come with their own maintenance instructions. The folding ones are just convenient when being used in bedrooms, etc. That’s the only difference, if you were to purchase a non folding one and it would just take up more space.

Yes, the City Sports treadmill doesn’t have handles and that is why it only reaches a speed of 6 km/h. This is a speed at which you can easily maintain your balance (power walking). Also, as explained, having nothing to hold on to means you have to engage your core muscles that little bit more, which means an extra core workout.

Thank you for the comments, they are much appreciated. I hope I have answered your questions. If I can help you any further, please do not hesitate to contact me.

  4. Hi Sami,

Thank you for reviewing these products.

I didn’t know that there are smaller treadmills and even without handbars.

My favorite is actually City Sports Electronic Walking Machine even if it only allows to walk, it is looks an innovative idea and it can be used at home when the weather doesn’t allow us to take a walk.

    Thank you for sharing,

    Andrea

  5. I have a bad knee and I never understood why treadmills would make the pain worse. I assumed they were all made the same way leaving me no hope of finding a suitable machine. Thanks to you, I now know that some machines have a shock absorption feature, but not all.

    • Hey Alex. Yes unfortunately, many models do not come with shock absorption so constant use over time will lead to bad knees and hips. I am very happy you learned something from my site today. Thank you for your comment.
